Wow! I would absolutely love to visit China -- with a Chinese-speaking guide who appreciates the various cultures we'd dip our toes into. A year in just one of these places would not be enough.
You absolutely should, Bette! And these days, with the help of all sorts of translating apps, I'd argue that you don't even need a Chinese-speaking guide to make the trip fun and amazing, of course, a guide with local knowledge and language capabilities would certainly be a plus.
WOW, Yi, so much to love in this post! Thanks for sharing these gorgeous images and some of the history. You could be the kind of wonderful guide to the region that some of the other commenters talked about... maybe your third career??
Even for someone like me, considered a Chinese native and lived 20+ years in the country, there are so many places still for me to visit and experience. My future trips would avoid touristy spots and go deep into the lives of ordinary people :).
Thanks, Mary! That was my intend - to share my experiences with readers who can't physically be there, first through photos, and then at some time, I hope to share my emotions and thoughts. :)

My jealousy is off the scale, Xue! China has always fascinated me, and all those dishes look so inviting. How many beautiful places to discover.

I can't wait to read all about it!
Wonderful photos and narrative. I felt like I was right there with you. Wish I could have been!

Looks like an amazing trip!
Thanks, Unha! It was indeed an amazing trip!
Lovely photos. And this brings back many memories of time spent in Ningbo!
Sounds heavenly. Looks heavenly. Like you, took a break, and now I need to catch up! xo
Welcome back! 🤗
The food looks amazing, especially the seafood and the green dumplings made with wild greens - I could taste the refreshing flavor through the screen!
Oh wow. I just want to write a quick note to say these are amazing pictures, Yi. But I want to spend a bit of time reading too! 🧡
